Gloria McCanna has been a faithful part of our church family since 2000. Starting April 1, 2005, the Reverend Gloria J. McCanna became the pastor of our sister church, the Reformed Church of Fishkill. Rev. McCanna was formally installed as pastor in a ceremony at the Fishkill Reformed Church at 4:00pm on Sunday, May 15th. Pastor Geehan and a number of members of our church were present at the installment ceremony.
Prior to 2000, Rev. McCanna served for eight years as the Associate Pastor of the New Hackensack Reformed Church. From 2000 to October of 2004, she served as Personnel Director of the Reformed Church of America, working from New York City. Rev. McCanna began a personal sabbatical in October 2004, which included times of retreat in Michigan, London, Scotland, and New Orleans.
Rev. McCanna's divinity studies were completed at the University of Aberdeen, Scotland, where she studied under Professor J.B. Torrance. Her undergraduate degree is from Wheaton College, Illinois.
May the Lord bless Gloria in her new position!
The Reformed Churches of Fishkill and Poughkeepsie share a common history. Both were started in the year 1716 by the Reverend Petrus Vas, and both have shared pastors and a parsonage for many decades.
