The Concert Choir of Delaware County Christian School
Joins in our Worship Service
March 25, 2007
During worship service on Sunday, March 25, 2007, the 70-voice Concert Choir of the Delaware County Christian School joined our congregation and enhanced our worhip of God. Singing works by Schmidt, Palestrina, Handel, Bronkema and Liljestrand, the Concert Choir lifted worshipers up with a mature cloister tone, under the exceptional direction of Renee Bussey. The youth choir spanned the entire front of the sanctuary using both the chancel steps and risers.
Ms. Bussey contacted our organist and choirmaster Dr. John A. Davis, Jr. after seeing the church's Tower Music Series website. She knew that our church would be a great and appreciative venue for the material that the Concert Choir performs. Dr. Davis agreed, and made arrangements for the Concert Choir to drop by during their return to their home in Pennsylvania from a concert performance in Quebec.
The Concert Choir is a performance-based group comprised of students in Grades 9-12. Auditions are held each spring. Concert Choir members are expected to perform music with accuracy and proper stylization, to sight-read music for performance and to learn music independently. The DCCS Concert Choir tours each spring and performs at school concerts, All-School chapels, choral competitions and festivals.
Delaware County Christian School is a pre-K to 12 independent, coeducational, interdenominational day school with an enrollment of approximately 900 students located on two campuses in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania. Delaware County Christian School provides a college preparatory program within an evangelical Christian perspective. The school's mission is to educate students who will serve God and impact the world through biblical thought and action.
