Church School

Church School

The 1st to 5th graders are taught through a hands on activity centered curriculum. This scripture based material focuses on one lesson a month which is then taught through various forms of the arts. It may be story-telling one week, movement the following, and video production the next. Children learn through different senses; some are listeners, some movers, some talkers, etc. They also learn by repetition. This curriculum gives children the benefit of multiple sensory stimuli and repetition. Working on one lesson for each month enables the students to fully incorporate the Bible story into their lives in a practical way. This year’s theme will be the Test of Faith.

The Junior and Senior High students work with a discussion based curriculum that applies the scripture lessons to their day to day lives. How the students respond to the challenges of their lives in a Christian manner is a major focus. This year they are studying from a DVD curriculum called the Nooma Series; a set of short videos exploring topics like forgiveness, discipleship, and unconditional love. The series focuses on making biblical truths vivid and relevant for today's younger generation. Equally important for the youth is the need for community involvement as well as activities that generate a sense of fellowship. Over the course of the year, the students participate in local service projects outside the church.

Nursery Care

This year nursery care will be provided for all infants and toddlers.  Due to new families in the church, the need has arisen for nursery care during the worship hour, making it easier for parents to attend the service. The nursery room will be downstairs adjoining Parish Hall. Parents are welcome to visit the nursery room during the service. The room will have streaming audio of the day’s worship so that those who do visit will not miss the service.
