The Youth Groups serve young people in our community by demonstrating the reality of God and His love for us. These groups help young people to live in the way that God expects us to live each day. The two youth groups are:
Meetings are held every Wednesday at the Poughkeepsie Reformed Church. The Corinthians meet from 4:00pm to 5:30pm, and the God Squad meets from 6:30pm to 9:00pm. |

The Youth Groups are open to all young people of the Poughkeepsie community, not just members of the Reformed Church. These groups help young people to address the major issues in their lives, such as:

Young people in today's world face daunting challenges. It is all too easy for those who have made the transition from youth to adult to dismiss this as a tired old cliché: everyone from the Flappers, to the Baby Boomers, to the Age of Aquarius, to the "Me Generation", to the Gen-Xers seems to have made the same complaint. While the same pressures exist that always have existed, today's high technology, mass media, mass marketed world delivers a relentless assault of these pressures as never before to today's young people. Therefore, young people need caring assistance, thoughtful advice, and the support of their peers as never before. The Youth Groups help young people come to grips with these issues and relate them to God's Word through faith, fellowship, and fun. |
A focus is placed upon growing in faith, gaining an understanding of how faith applies to the issues of adolescence, and gaining an understanding of the hope that faith provides.
These groups provide fellowship for young people who are willing to see faith as essential to their lives. As part of fellowship, the members of these youth groups participate in service activities within our community. Some past fellowship activities include:
|
Annual Youth Service |
Youth Thanksgiving Dinner |
Our youth have fun at weekly meetings, in special youth group events, and through the friendships that they build between themselves. Some past special events include:
|
Monthly basketball games |
Christmas Show at Radio City Music Hall |
These groups are open to all young people in our community, regardless of faith. If you are interested in joining one of the Youth Groups, or if you wish to help our young people through these groups, please feel free to contact Lou Nielsen .
