He came to Leota on November 28, 1922. Preached the gospel of salvation faithfully. He also served the Reformed Church of Chandler from 1937-1947.

He and his wife were the parents of four children, Reina, Willem, Jessie, and Alberta.

He retired at Muskegan, Michigan after the death of his wife in 1947.
