Welcome to
The Neighborhood Chapel
Welcome to the Neighborhood Chapel's little
corner of the internet. We are committed to serving Christ and our
community by providing relevant and inspirational Bible teaching during
our 10:00 a.m. Sunday Christian Education Hours for both children and adults.
Concerned that the total community might experience the love and liberating
power of Jesus Christ, We communicate God's love for us through our tutoring
program, food pantry ministry and small group ministries, as well as encouraging
one-on-one supportive relationships. Worshipping and celebrating
our diversity and unity in Jesus Christ, we gather every Sunday morning
to worship God in proclamation and power. We renew our spirits, pray, and
encourage each other.
Our Humble Beginnings
In the fall of 1978 Pastor Pedro J Windsor was
accepted by the Council for Hispanic Ministers of the Reformed Churches
in America to begin a Chicago Hispanic project. The purpose was to
reach the Hispanic community in the city.
The ministry was started in the basement
of Pastor Windsor's home in the Humboldt park area. Three effective
avenues for ministry have been the church's radio ministry. "Vida Abundante,"
the first bilingual Christian radio program in the city, its Logos Lay
Leadership Training Program and its quarterly newsletter, "The Catalyst."
One of the purposes of the Church is to reach
second and third generation hispanics in Chicago.
