Two special history events coming in September and October. We so enjoyed looking at old photos and memorabilia during our Open House on Parade Day in June, that we thought we might like to do it again! Join us for Coffee Hour & History on September 8th, following our regular Sunday Service. We will spread out some old photos and history stuff on the tables downstairs and spend some time talking about "old times" or trying to identify the popel in some of these old photos.

On October 6th, following the regular Sunday Service we will gather for Coffee Hour and a presentation by Robi Josephson.

Robi Josephson presents "Hardscrabble Life in the Gunks," an illustrated talk about The Trapps, a vanished mountain hamlet of the Shawangunk Mountains.  Today, the lands between Lakes Mohonk and Minnewaska are protected, but the mountain was once home to 250 to 300 people who scratched a living from a rocky wilderness.  Robi will also tell the fascinating story of how a Mohonk Preserve ranger named Bob Larsen pieced together the story of the Trapps and its people over a period of four decades and helped preserve their history for generations to come.  Robi is the author of two books about the Shawangunks: Mohonk: Mountain House and Preserve (Arcadia Publishing, 2002) and co-authored with Bob Larsen, An Unforgiving Land (Black Dome Press, 2013).  Book sales will benefit the Community Church of High Falls.
