Bring a Dime Everytime The idea for the Bring a Dime Everytime program grew out of President Franklin D. Roosevelt's March of Dimes program. The concept is fairly simple. Imagine a droplet of water on the edge of a leaf plunging into a puddle, trickling into a stream, rushing into a river and eventually ending in an ocean. The Community Church of High Falls is a small country church with a strong awareness of hungry folks all around us. With that in mind we set a jar on the table in the back of the church and, like the droplets of water, one dime at a time, we began filling that jar. In January, 2006, we held our first pot-luck Roller Luncheon. Our church family gathered for food, fun, fellowship and to roll the dimes collected over the course of the year; we found that we had collected 353 dollars worth of dimes! We decided to try again and on January 29th of 2007 we counted and rolled another 284 dollars worth of dimes. January 2008 proved to be even more successful than the first two years - we rolled another 432 dollars worth of dimes on January 27th!! Rondout Valley Food Pantry The Community Church of High Falls supports the Rondout Valley Food Pantry through contributions from individual members and from programs such as Bring a Dime Everytime . Food collected in baskets at the back of the church is also donated to the Pantry. In September, 2008, the food pantry provided food to 79 families. Because of the difficult economic times, more and more families are seeking our help. For our December donations (2008) lets give foods you enjoy having at the Christmas season such as cookies, cookie mix, nuts, fruits, candy, etc. In January our theme will be peanut butter and jelly; and in February, the theme be " Souper Bowl" with all kinds of soup. Keep these in mind as you shop and make each month a success. If you are aware of anyone in the area who is in need of food, please have them call the Pantry at 687-4013.
