OUR LIFE OF SERVICE TO THE WORLD
MISSION OF THE MONTH . . . The November Mission of the Month is the SICM Food Pantry. See more about the Food Pantry below.
Designate your Mission of the Month offering by using the specially marked yellow envelope in your box of offering envelopes. Need a box? Just call the church office.
BETHESDA HOUSE . . . is in great need of winter coats at this time. If you have some you can donate please drop them off at the box outside Memorial Lounge.
THANKSGIVING BASKETS . . . for Concerned for the Hungry will be distributed from Keane Elementary School (formerly St. Luke’s School) on Albany Street, Schenectady. Over 2,500 families are served at Thanksgiving. Baskets will be assembled there on Wednesday, Nov. 18 from 4:00 – 9:00. Volunteers are also needed Thursday and Friday, Nov. 19 and 20, 9:00 – 4:00, and Saturday, Nov. 21, 10:00 – 6:00. Clean up is Tuesday, Nov. 24, 8:00 – 12:00 noon. If you can help, please call 372–9881. Visit the website: www.concernedforthehungry.org for more information.
MITTEN TREE . . . Our Salvation Army Mitten Tree will go up November 17 in Brink Hall. Please bring donations of hats, mittens, gloves and scarves to decorate it. Please also bring a toy for a child to go under the tree. Donations will be taken to the Salvation Army to distribute to those in need. Items must be here by Sunday, December 13. Many thanks go to the women of Circle Joanna for organizing this project.
AIDS COUNCIL OF NORTHEASTERN NEW YORK . . . Our Missions Council again supports the gift collection for people and families with AIDS. A list of gifts is posted on the bulletin boards and the pink sheets outside the church office. Bring your unwrapped gifts to the church by Monday, December 7. We join other Reformed Churches in Albany Synod for this collection.
GIFTS FOR NORTHEAST PARENT CHILD SOCIETY . . . are being collected in a different way this year. The agency is trying to help families plan for and buy their own gifts for Christmas, so they have created a Holiday Hope Fund. If you’d like to give to Northeast as we have in the past, you can buy a gift from their wish list, make a financial donation, or buy a gift from the Wal-Mart gift registry. Call 579-3502 or go to the website for more information: neparentchild.org.
THE SICM FOOD PANTRY . . . The basket in the Narthex receives food donations for the Schenectady Inner City Ministries (SICM) Food Pantry. Please add the "food of the week" to your shopping list to share with those less fortunate. The pantry particularly needs Stage #1 and Stage #2 Baby Food; they always need baby formula (Enfamil with Iron). They also need dry mixes (tuna helper, potato dishes, noodle mixes). Thanks to Dave Gonyea who takes the food from our church to the pantry this month. The Food Pantry needs volunteers on Thursday and Friday mornings.
