OUR LIFE OF CHRISTIAN GROWTH
SUNDAY SCHOOL . . . We offer Sunday School classes for children and youth 4-years-old through senior high at 10:30 when these learners leave the sanctuary for their own time of learning Christ’s Way. Friends are always welcome. Our 3rd thru 8th graders go directly to Brink Hall for their rotation classes. See the youth bulletin board for the weekly room assignments. All others go to their classrooms.
We currently are recruiting Greeters in the Children and Worship Centers who sit with the children and listen to the Bible stories. The number of youngsters has grown and we need more greeters! See Sunny Baldwin, 374-9276, or Pastor Jan to help.
WHEN JESUS CAME TO HARVARD . . . On Wednesday mornings from 6:30 to 7:30 Pastor Craig Hoffman continues an early-morning class on the sayings and parables of Jesus. The class resource is, When Jesus Came to Harvard by Harvey Cox. Read chapters 14 and 15 this week: “Parables and Zen Slaps” and “The Crooked CEO an the Spoiled Brat.”
PARABLES . . . Pastor Jan finishes the course on the parables of Jesus at 12:15 this Wednesday, November 16. Prepare Chapter 7. The former Wed. evening class meets Monday at 12:15. Prepare Chapter 4.
CONSECRATION SUNDAY . . . Next Sunday is our Consecration Sunday when we carefully consider how much of our incomes we will give to Christ’s ministry, and then consecrate estimates of our 2012 giving. We grow in faith as we attend to this important part of Christian discipleship. Because many of us take steps of faith that day, there will be celebrations after worship -- coffee and donuts served after 8:00 worship, and a soup and sandwich luncheon in Brink Hall after 10:00. Come to consecrate and to celebrate.
ADVENT TABLE TALK . . . Pastor Jan Hoffman leads a four-week Advent study during Table Talk, The Uncluttered Heart: Making Room for God During Advent and Christmas. Weekly themes are Hope, Peace, Joy and Love. We’ll meet at 11:20 for an hour, using a resource book, beginning Sunday, November 27. We’re letting you know now so you can make the commitment of time during the four Sundays of Advent.
WOMEN OF JOY . . . Women in our church family are invited to join a group working its way through The Happiness Project, a book by Gretchen Rubin, available in paperback. Read the December chapter for our next meeting, Wednesday, November 30 at 7:00.
