OUR
LIFE OF WORSHIP & TODAYÕS EVENTS
WELCOME . . . Welcome to our worship of God this morning.
After the 10:00 service all are invited to a coffee hour in Brink Hall for fellowship and conversation. We thank Nancy Passer and Dot Henwood for hosting our coffee hour this morning. Ushers are ready with wheelchairs if the walk from the sanctuary to Brink Hall is too far for you.
RESTROOMS . . . There is one restroom just off the narthex. Others are through the door on the right hand side of the sanctuary -- then to the left, or down the long hall to the right.
LISTENING DEVICES . . . are available for the hard of hearing. Speak to an usher if you would like to try one.
LARGE-PRINT BULLETINS . . . are available for both the 8:00 and 10:00 services. Speak to an usher if you would like one.
CHILDRENÕS BULLETINS . . . are available in two formats, ages 3 to 6, and 7 to 12.

NURSERY . . . Our nursery for children through three years of age is the first room on the right after leaving the front of the sanctuary. It is staffed from 9:30 to 11:30. Nursery Director Diana Ackner coordinates volunteers, and leads regular Bible stories and prayers. We ask that a parent stay with babies younger than six months old. We need one or two adults to sign up to help out each week. Please sign your name on the sign up sheet on the nursery door, and help welcome these youngest ones.
LENTEN RESOURCES . . . Help yourself to Lenten devotionals and resources for adults, children and families! Pick some up in the Narthex or on the table outside the church office.
HOLY WEEK . . . is the week before Easter. Note these times of Holy Week worship.
¥ Palm Sunday, April 13:
Worship in the sanctuary at 8:00 and 10:00. Palm fronds are given to worshippers at each service.
¥ Maundy Thursday, April 17:
Communion and Tenebrae in our sanctuary at 7:30. Tenebrae, Latin for shadows, is an ancient monastic service in which the sanctuary becomes darker and darker as the story of ChristÕs passion is told. This is a dramatic service – one that can make a significant impression on our children.
¥ Good Friday, April 18:
Cross Walk at 9:30. Scotia and Glenville Christians gather at our church at 9:30 for a Cross Walk. We carry a cross through the village of Scotia from church to church retelling the story of ChristÕs walk from Gethsemane to Golgotha. The Cross Walk ends at the United Methodist Church at about 11:30.
¥ Easter, April 20:
Sunrise service at 6:07. Gather in Brink Hall for an outdoor sunrise service overlooking the lake. The service begins promptly at sunrise – this year at 6:07. Coffee, juice and hot cross buns are served after worship. We receive an offering for the Scotia Food BankÕs account at the Northeast Regional Food Bank.
Worship in the sanctuary at 8:00 and 10:00.
FROGs . . . is our youth group for Grades 3 – 5.
YOUTH GROUP FOR JUNIOR AND SENIOR HIGHS . . . Tonight high school and
middle school youth meet from 6:00 to 8:00 in Room 12. We continue to look for parent
volunteers to help facilitate activities, so please sign up on the bulletin
board or contact Kate Dulmes (frcskdulmes@verizon.net) if you can help
out in this way.
OUR
LIFE OF CHRISTIAN GROWTH
SUNDAY SCHOOL . . . We regularly offer Sunday School classes for 4-year-olds through senior highs at 10:30 when these learners leave the sanctuary for their own time of learning ChristÕs Way.
á Rotation students in Grades 3-5 meet upstairs in Room 9 for a Music Workshop with Claudia Garrison and John Hoffman. Students in Grades 6-8 meet in Room 1 for a Labyrinth Workshop with Linda Willoughby.
á Senior High students meet in Room 12 for Sunday School with Mr. and Mrs. Baldwin to continue the important discussion on what it means to be a Christian in todayÕs world.
LABYRINTH WALKS . . . Pam Walsh has set up a labyrinth upstairs in Room 8. Come, walk the labyrinth any weekday between 8:00 and 3:00, or on Sundays between 8:00 and Noon.
YOUTH
GROUP ALL-NIGHTER .
. . The lock-in is here! Movies, games, food
and fellowship will be happening all night long É and hopefully a little sleep! DonÕt forget to bring your sleeping bags
and overnight bag from Friday, April 25 at 7:30 to Saturday April 26 at
10:00. Sign up on the bulletin
board across from the youth room.
OUR LIFE AS A COMMUNITY OF FAITH
ABOUT OUR PEOPLE . .
.
á Mrs. Terry Griesche is a patient at the Sunnyview Rehabilitation Center.
YOGA . . . will again be taught by Nancy Tobiessen in Brink Hall. Week two begins Wednesday, April 16, 7:00 – 8:15. There will be six classes at a cost of $30. Bring your check made out to Nancy. Wear stretchy, comfortable clothing and bring your own yoga mat. Sign up on the bulletin board outside Pastor CraigÕs office if you would like to join this class.
CAREGIVERS . . . next meets on Tuesday, April 15, 11:30 – 12:45 in Memorial Lounge. Note the new time. This group meets monthly to support those caring for family members or friends. All are welcome to join this support group – bring a friend. Please read Chapter 4 in No Act of Love is Ever Wasted. If you need a copy, see Pastor Jan.
DRIVERS NEEDED . . . We need two different kinds of drivers willing to help some of our seniors stay connected to their church. Sign up for one or both of these needs on the bulletin board next to Pastor CraigÕs office.
á We need drivers willing to pick up someone who doesnÕt drive at night but who would nonetheless like to go to an evening event or worship service at our church. This is only for events or services that you are also planning to attend. WeÕre not making assignments, only developing a list of people we may call. If called, you may say Yes or No.
á We need drivers wiling to pick up someone who needs a ride to worship on Sunday mornings. We recognize that for many itÕs not possible to commit to picking up someone for church every Sunday.
MEMORIAL LOUNGE GLASS CASES . . . See the ByerÕs Choice St. PatrickÕs Day and Easter Collectibles on one side, and Pat Van PattenÕs Easter Collectibles on the other.
OUR LIFE OF SERVICE TO THE WORLD
MISSION OF THE MONTH . . . for April is Schenectady Home Furnishings Program, which provides household furnishings to people in need who reside in Schenectady County. At no charge, the Program picks up and delivers donated items. The Program needs volunteer drivers to pick up and deliver furniture, office workers and Board Members who are passionate about the program. Go online to get more information or volunteer: http://www.schenectadyhomefurnishings.org/volunteer.htm or call 346-2444.
THE SCOTIA FOOD PANTRY . . . The basket in the Narthex receives our weekly food donations for the Scotia Food Pantry. Note: The Scotia Pantry does not need Enfamil or baby food. Please add the "food of the week" to your shopping list to share with others. The pantry always needs dry mixes (tuna helper, potato and noodle dishes). We thank Dave Gonyea for delivering our donations to the food pantry this month.
