Some notes on the musicl career of Ernest F. Hamilton, Jr.

In 1963 Ernest became a teen-age organist and choirmaster at Lakehurst Methodist Church, and traveled with the Methodist pastor from Lakehurst to play services on an old piano in what is now the Whiting Bible Church.

Since then he has served Methodist, Episcopal, Presbyterian, Reformed, and Interdenominational churches in Ocean and Monmouth Counties. He has served Community Reformed Church for the past twelve and a half years. You may also hear him playing funerals at St. John's Roman Catholic Church in Lakehurst or at Crestwood Manor as well.

Ernest's organ study began in early 1963 with the late Elsie Madsen Fischer at Christ Church, Toms River. Formal music education followed at Westminster Choir College in Princeton, the Royal School of Church Music in England, and lastly at Westminster Conservatory.

He is a charter member of the Ocean County chapter of the American Guild of Organists, a member of the Royal School of Church Music, and of the Organ Historical Society.

In celebration of this career, and in Thanksgiving for Fifty Years of Music Ministry a concert was performed on June 9.

Under the direction of Ernest F. Hamilton, Jr., music was performed by the Chime Choir and the Chancel Choir of the Community Reformed Church. Ernest performed several organ solos, as well.
