Upcoming Events
The Wheeler Mission Auxiliary will meet Monday, October 19, at 12:00 P.M. at the Emerson Avenue Baptist Church at Emerson and New York Street. The speaker will be David Blount, who is the Chaplain at the Mission. He will also bring along another speaker, VJ Harper, a graduate of the Wheeler Mission Hebron program. He is now employed by the Mission. A luncheon will be served at a cost of $5.00. Please let Eleanor Hood know TODAY if you plan to attend so reservations can be turned in. Our needs for this month are school supplies, towels, wash cloths, dish towels, and cloths. Put them in the green tub in the narthex if you can't make it to the meeting.
Walkers Wanted - The 30th Annual CROP Hunger Walk will be held next Sunday, October 18, in the Butler-Tarkington neighborhood. This is the same location as last year. We need many participants. You can do the complete walk or just a portion of it. This truly is a great cause to help the needy around the world. See Wayne Riggs for more information.
Operation Christmas Child Continues - Please pray for this worthwhile ministry of bringing joy and hope to children around the world. Also, beyond the shoebox ministry is the Child Evangelism and Discipleship Program. The National Collection Week is November 16-23.
We Are Very Excited to be hosting a Trunk or Treat Night for all of God's children in our church and the community. We need 15 families/teams to commit to having a vehicle on site and ready for trunk or treaters at 5:30 P.M., Halloween Night, Saturday, October 31. Each team will choose its own theme, decorate its own vehicle accordingly and pass out candy or other treats to Trunk or Treaters. We will have our guests vote for their favorite "trunk," and a prize will be awarded to the winner(s) on Sunday morning. Some vehicles may choose to have the "treaters" play a game and "earn" their treat, or they may just hand it out. In the case of wet or extreme weather, we will move the event into the Fellowship Room and do our very best to decorate inside and carry on the festivities. Please let Janelle know if you are willing to help in any way.
BYO is Thursday, October 29, at 7:00 P.M. Suzy Holman will lead us in making rag dolls for Rag Dolls 2 Love, Inc. Plan on coming for an evening of fellowship as we work to show God's love to these children who are precious to Him. Many hands will be needed to cut, sew, stuff and draw faces. If you would like to donate fabric, thread, stuffing, or help with a donation for postage, please talk to Suzy or Janelle.
