Reformed Church of America Website |
As
part of the Reformed denomination, we are governed by what is called a
consistory, made up of the pastor, the elders, and the deacons. The
pastor is responsible for bringing the Word of God each Sunday, and for
pastoral visitation of the members of the congregation. The
elders are responsible for the spiritual oversight of the congregation, in
visiting the shut-ins and being available for counsel. The
deacons take care of the material oversight of the church—property and
finances—as well as being responsible for the mission program of the church. These
offices are open to both men and women. The
consistory works through six committees that operate in the church: one each
for education, missions, worship and music, property, congregational life,
and outreach. Membership on these committees is open to those whose interests
and talents enable them to express their faith in these areas. |
